Missions

Areas embraced by our congregation include local, national, and international support of United Methodist Ministries.  Specific programs include salary support of Jean Jacobs, a missionary in Mexico, financial commitments to the Wilkinson Center, the Bethlehem Center, Wesley-Rankin Center, Methodism’s Bread Basket, and many more.

Missions are carried out at Ridgewood Park United Methodist Church also by each of the two groups whose buttons appear at the left.

Wilkinson Center Shoe Drive

An annual collection drive of shoes (new or gently used) for The Wilkinson Center.

Each August, our congregation accepts donations of basic school supplies for children attending Dan D. Rogers Elementary School (adjoining the church) who might not otherwise be able to afford them.

Project Transformation is a program to connect young energy and leadership, the North Texas conference churches and institutions, and urban congregations in a meaningful program by providing dedicated summer interns to urban churches. Additionally, it is a year round program that combines students interested in ministry, Christian education and children from our urban communities in an urban church setting.

Feeding the Homeless

Each quarter, the church provides breakfast kits to the Austin Street Shelter. Each kit consists of a paper lunch sack containing:

One Hard-boiled egg,
A sausage-and-biscuit patty sandwich,
a banana,
and a small bag of cookies

We need lots of them. Individuals are asked to donate 18 kits. Sign-up sheets on bulletin boards and in Sunday School classes. Call Andy Pendleton at (214) 221-1402 for more information.
